Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. 612
Yikes, it has been a week. Where does time go? It’s time for Wednesday Hodgepodge again… hope over to visit Joyce at From this Side of the Pond for the questions each week, answer them and link up your blog for some random question fun!

1. When does time pass slowly for you? When does time past quickly for you?
Time always passes so slowly for me when its the workday before vacation or a holiday. It seems like the clock moves backwards! Anything involving my kids – the time moves so quickly. I swear I just brought them home from the hospital, way too small for their car seats. Yesterday, my daughter said “I can’t believe we have two years left of high school.” Yeah, time flew.
2. Do you have a favorite beach? What’s your favorite ‘beach’ activity? Tell us what we’d find in your beach bag.
I am not a big beach person. I would much rather visit the mountains. But, my favorite beach is Tiscornia Park in St. Joseph Michigan – it is rather small and has a great view of the St. Joseph Lighthouse. To be honest, that is the only reason I like going to the beach – to see lighthouses or to watch the sunset or waves. I am too afraid to get into the water because of sharks!
3. Your favorite book or movie with a beach setting?
The Liz Talbot mystery series by Susan M. Boyer. I reread them probably once a year!
4. What’s a food you love, but find it’s a pain to eat? Is it worth it?
I imagine most people will say crab legs or lobster tail – but, I have been cracking crab legs since I was old enough to say drawn butter. But, keeping along the beachy theme… I am going to say unpeeled shrimp. I hate having to peel them and pull the legs off. And, if the mud vein is still there, I’m out. I am not eating it. Is it worth it (when there is no mud vein)… definitely. But, I prefer my shrimp peeled.
5. Do you like roller coasters? What’s the best (or worst) roller coaster you’ve been on?
I hate roller coasters. I never understood the point of them. But, then again, I had my speed thrill drag racing, so roller coasters were meh. I do remember riding the Beastie at King’s Island when I was probably 6. I barely reached the minimum height requirement. I begged and begged my parents, so my mom took me. If I remember right, she had just had my brother a few months before that day. First thing, we got into line to ride the coaster. Rode it… I don’t remember any of it, because my eyes were closed tight. We got off and my mom was so nauseous, we had to leave and didn’t get to spend the day at King’s Island!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
My son got his license last week, and my daughter is more than likely taking her test this week. I am not okay. My babies are growing up and no longer need me to drive them places.

I’m with our mom when it comes to roller coasters : ) The Maryland crabs (as opposed to the king crabs) are a whole lot of work, but once you know the technique you can get to the meat without too much trouble. All these seafood posts today have me wishing that was on the dinner menu tonite. Have a great day!

Oh yes! That is so true, anything to do with my girls goes so quickly!
I like a small beach too, my favourite has a little lighthouse which is so cute!
Eek! Congrats to your son with his license and good luck to your daughter with hers.

My children are in their 30’s now, and I have three grand babies. Time flew by. It has been bittersweet. Tender hugs as you begin preparing for your children to leave the nest.

Lighthouses at the shore are a much bigger draw for me than the actual beach so I get what you’re saying there. Congrats to your kiddos on getting their licenses! Yes, nothing like having your baby driving by themselves to emphasize how quickly time can fly by! Hope you’re having a great week!

Congrats on another driver in the family:) Oh my…unpeeled shrimp?! With a vein. Ugh. Now I don’t think I even want shrimp anymore!! I’m with you – going to the shore just to see the lighthouses!!
