Do you know what is worse that cooking dinner? Trying to figure out what to cook for dinner.

Some weeks, I have plenty of food in the house, but my mind goes completely blank when it comes time to make a meal plan. I end up standing in front of the refrigerator hoping inspiration magically appears.

It never does.

That’s why I started keeping a running list of meals my family actually likes to eat. Nothing fancy, just real meals that I know everyone will eat without complaints.

Whenever I sit down to make my weekly meal plan, I pull out this list and suddenly meal planning feels a whole lot easier. If you ever find yourself asking “what’s for dinner” over and over again, this free dinner ideas printable might help.

Why Keep a Dinner Ideas List?

One of the biggest challenges with meal planning isn’t grocery shopping or cooking. It’s coming up with ideas.

When you already have a list of meals your family enjoys, you don’t have to start from scratch every week.

A simple dinner ideas list helps you:

  • Plan meals faster
  • Avoid repeating the same few dinners
  • Remember meals you’ve forgotten about
  • Use what you already have on hand
  • Reduce decision fatigue

Sometimes all it takes is seeing a few meal ideas on paper to get the planning process started.

How I Use This Printable

Whenever we try a meal that everyone enjoys, I add it to the list. Over time, it becomes a collection of reliable dinner ideas that I can pull from whenever I’m planning the week ahead.

Some examples from our house include:

  • Tacos
  • Air Fryer Chicken
  • Sloppy Joes
  • Breakfast for Dinner
  • Sheet Pan Sausage and Vegetables
  • Spaghetti
  • Grilled Chicken Sandwiches

The goal isn’t to create an impressive list. The goal is to create a useful one.

Pair It With Your Week Meal Planner

This printable works especially well alongside the Weekly Meal Planner and Grocery List Printable.

Instead of staring at a blank meal planner wondering what to make, you can simply choose meals from your dinner ideas list and start filling in your week.

If you haven’t downloaded the meal planner and grocery list yet, be sure to grab that printable as well.
